A giant beach is coming to Heaton Park this summer

A giant beach is coming to Heaton Park this summer - and the best bit is it's FREE.

Come to the Beach returns this weekend, bringing sand, deck chairs, a paddling pool, buckets and spades and more to the popular park.

It'll be the north west's biggest inland beach and will stay open right through the summer until September 3.

There'll be character appearances too - from the likes of Paw Patrol, Moana and Beauty and the Beast - as well as a seaside fun park with traditional rides and attractions, which can be paid for either individually or with an unlimited &8.99 wristband.

Organiser Gary Gore said: "Best of all admission to the event and the beach is free and while the younger ones can build the perfect sandcastle or enjoy a paddle in the pool, mum and dad can sit back and relax with an ice cold drink or enjoy a bite to eat. Come to the Beach has it all."

Starting this Saturday, July 22, the beach will open daily from 12pm to 5pm. Disney's Moana and Belle and Marvel's Spider Man and Captain America will be appearing on the opening day.

The fun park will give families the chance to enjoy the Waltzer’s or Twister, ride high on the Cliffhanger or Big Apple Roller Coaster or test their driving skills on the Crazy Cars.

There's lots for the little ones too with the race o rama cars ride, toy ride, traditional carousel, cups and saucers and a Fun House.

The water attractions, diggers and bungees are not included in wristband offer and height restrictions apply on some attractions.
