From fights in high street shops a few years ago to barely a whisper in Manchester's shopping centres, Black Friday has evolved quickly through the years.

Originating in the consumer culture of the US, Black Friday quickly found its way over to the UK where supermarkets specialised in cheap TVs and discounts on electrical goods.

While recent years have seen smaller crowds trying to bag a bargain in the Trafford Centre and the Arndale Centre, online retail giant Amazon has worked hard to become the biggest Black Friday name online.

Can you get deals now?

Amazon is the biggest online shop in the UK with millions of items for sale. That means there is always a discount or sale on across the site.

You can see the latest deals on the Amazon deals page , which is updated daily with the latest offers.

The current deal is a week-long Beauty Innovation Week sale offering 15% off the latest beauty products. Everything from eyeliner to foundation has been reduced with new deals added throughout the week.

If beauty deals are not your thing you can wait until Black Friday. Here is what to expect.

Amazon on Black Friday

Amazon has gone all out on Black Friday in previous years with deals starting weeks before the actual date.

The online retailer has used the day to sell some of its own electronics, namely the Amazon Echo and Amazon Fire tablet.

In 2018 Amazon's own devices are likely to be reduced once more along with the brand's growing number of subscription services.

They include Amazon Prime Video, which hit the headlines recently when it launched the All or Nothing Manchester City documentary taking a look behind the scenes of Pep Guardiola's title winners.

Amazon Prime for Students and Amazon Music will also likely be discounted for Black Friday 2018.

What can we expect from Amazon?

Amazon launched its Black Friday deals on 17 November last year and it will be around the same time again in 2018.

Deals included 20% off big electrical names such as Samsung, Motorola and Nokia, while TVs were reduced by a third.

There will also be thousands of Lightning Deals - products available at a discount, in limited quantities, for a short period of time. They will be introduced throughout the sale, with new deals becoming available as often as every five minutes.

The tips for getting the best deals

There is something you can do before Black Friday to take advantage of the Amazon discounts.

Amazon's Lightning Deals will be announced each hour of Black Friday but Amazon Prime members will get early access to all of the deals, meaning better chances of a bargain for those who sign up.

If you do not want to fork out &7.99 per month for Prime then you can take advantage of the 30-day free trial . You can sign up and then cancel the trial after Black Friday.

Just remember you only get 30 days free, so only sign up in November if you are not willing to keep the subscription.
